Junior School
Years 1 – 8

We are the Junior School!

A vibrant, learning focused, Years 1-8 school set amongst lovely oak trees with a large field for play, an exciting library, dynamic  classroom environments,  and “on-to-it” staff.

We are proud to be a “Duffy: Books in Homes” school, to be part of the CrackerJack’s Kids teaching programme focusing on values, character , sport and physical activity . We are supported by a number of organisations including KidsCan that enable us to provide a variety of programmes.  We also offer “ the milk & the fruit” in schools programmes to provide daily fruit and milk to children.

We offer families a variety of additional learning opportunities through our HomeSchool partnership, Maori Hui , Tongan/Samoan Fonos and the Reading Together programme.  We open the library from 8am for Years 1-4 Buddy Reading and JS 21 for Y5-6 Reading Rockets/Math Magicians every morning,   where the children are supported in their learning by student tutors, parents and teachers.

We have a strong team of teaching and support staff, who keep up-to-date with new teaching practices through ongoing University study and school based professional development. We are fortunate to have specialist teachers in Literacy, Mathematics and to support our new English Language learners.

We have a busy calendar with numerous opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning. Our classroom programmes are designed to support all learners, to engage, to challenge and to live by our 4R’s (values)  Respect, Relationships, Responsibility, Resilience .
Come on in! – you are welcome to be part of our unique, exciting, challenging, rewarding school whanau!
