You will often hear us say “reading is the key to success” and so we have created programmes that are available to students before school.
Years 1-4 are eligible to participate every morning from 8am in the Library. Buddy Tutors, teachers and parents are on hand to listen to children read their home reader. A record is maintained in their Buddy Reading booklet and when they have completed a section they are awarded an Achievement certificate at Success Assembly.
Parents can get involved, so come on in! – tutors are trained – join in, have some fun!!!
Years 4/5-6 can register for these literacy/maths programmes that operate Tuesday – Friday from 8:10am in JS 21. Permission forms are sent home with students or parents can register students. Parents are welcome and can also participate.
A tuckshop operates from the side of the hall and is run by Libel, a tuckshop and catering company. The Tuckshop operates before school for ordering lunches, and is also open at interval and lunchtime. Prices and menus are displayed at the tuckshop.
As students have 10 minutes lunch eating time in their classrooms from 1:30 and are not released into the playground until 1:40 it is best to pre-order their lunch before school and it will be delivered to their classroom.
We have a full time nurse and social worker on site in the Junior School. Teachers will refer students as needed –We are part of the government initiate to monitor and treat strep throat & skin infections. Parents may approach the nurse /social worker directly.

We are proud to be an Auckland City TravelWise school where the focus is on road safety and “walking to school”.
Road Safety – A “walking school bus” operates daily 5 minutes after the home bell: 2:35pm Mon / 3:05pm Tues-Fri to take the children to the lights, across Buckland Rd, across Ashley Ave and then across Ben Lora Place.
Staff and parents are also on duty every afternoon to ensure children use the lights to cross safely.
Parents are also asked to use the traffic lights to cross as this keeps everyone safe and supports the school road safety message.

Students are expected to attend school every day unless sick.
To report an absent please phone the school office (255 0404 ext. 710) or download the school app. and follow the instructions.
When a student returns to school PLEASE send with them a note to explain their absence or complete the yellow absence slip that the teacher will send home.
